Do I need my iPhone nearby to use Wrist Dope?

No. Wrist Dope runs standalone on Apple Watch, and the iPhone app is a complete ballistics app in its own right. Weather requires a network connection (Wi-Fi or cellular), but ballistic calculations work entirely on device.

Why does Wrist Dope ask for Location and Motion access?

Location provides compass heading, altitude, and local weather; motion measures device angle for shot calculations. This data is used only on your device and is never collected or shared. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Which watches and iPhones are supported?

Wrist Dope is designed for Apple Watch Ultra and recent Series models running a current version of watchOS, plus iPhone running a current version of iOS. The two sync automatically when paired, and each works fully on its own.

Are my gun and load profiles backed up?

Profiles are stored locally and persist between launches, and sync between your watch and iPhone. You can also export and import your guns and loads as a file from the iPhone app.

How accurate are the firing solutions?

Wrist Dope uses a full physics-based trajectory engine (G1/G7 drag, spin drift, Coriolis). As with any ballistic solver, real-world accuracy depends on accurate inputs — verify and true your data on the range.

Does Wrist Dope drain my watch battery?

Not in normal use. The live sensors run only while a calculation screen is open, and watch-face complications read a saved snapshot rather than computing continuously. Live Fire can optionally keep the display awake between shots (and stays readable in always-on on the watch) — that mode trades some battery for an uninterrupted sight picture, and it's off the moment you leave the screen.
