Built for Apple Watch first
The firing solution is already on your wrist.
Raise your wrist. Turn the Digital Crown to the ranged distance. Read elevation and windage in MIL or MOA. Wrist Dope was designed around the few seconds when another screen is the last thing you need.
- Live Fire
- Turn the Crown and watch the solution update instantly.
- Point and lock
- Use the compass to set target direction, shot angle, and wind direction.
- Range Card
- Scroll a complete dope table and jump directly to any distance.
- Complications
- Put holds, density altitude, target, active load, or a mini range card on the watch face.
- Standalone
- Profiles, manual conditions, and calculations stay available away from the iPhone and cell service.

No Apple Watch? No problem.
One of the best ballistic calculators on iPhone, too.
The iPhone app is not a remote control for the Watch. It is a complete ballistic calculator in its own right — Live Fire, range cards, target and wind capture, hit probability, terminal-performance reference data, and your full gun library on a big screen. Add a watch later and everything syncs.
- Automatic profile and live-state sync with Apple Watch
- Scan factory ammo and choose component bullets
- Export range cards as an image or print to PDF
- Back up and transfer your gun library
- Use the iPhone app by itself — no Watch required
The fastest setup in the game
Scan the box. Get the firing solution.
Other calculators start with a blank form. Wrist Dope starts with a scan: point your iPhone at a factory ammo barcode and the onboard catalog fills in the cartridge, manufacturer, bullet, BC, and factory muzzle velocity — instant gun and load detection, straight to Live Fire.
- 150+ factory cartridges from major ammunition and bullet manufacturers
- G1 and G7 BC data where published
- Works without internet access
- Manual UPC entry when the barcode will not scan
- Component bullet picker for handloaders
Scan it. Range it. Solve it.
No barcode search. No manufacturer website. No copying BCs into tiny fields.
Factory velocity is a starting value. Verify and true the profile for your rifle, ammunition lot, and conditions for the most accurate holds.
Scanning is a Wrist Dope Pro feature, free for your first 7 days.

“Hey Siri, dope for 700 yards.”
“5.2 mils up. 0.8 mil left. At 700 yards.”
Hands-free dope
Hands free, heads down.
“Hey Siri, dope for 700 yards.”
“5.2 mils up. 0.8 mil left. At 700 yards.”
Wrist Dope calculates the solution and speaks it back on Apple Watch or iPhone. You can also set wind and target by voice, then hear the updated hold.
Dope calls and wind adjustments by voice — eyes never leave the glass. No phone required on Apple Watch.
On the rifle
Put it on the rifle.
Mount the watch at any angle on the rifle — vertical, horizontal, or upside down, the screen rotates to match the mounting direction — or run the iPhone on the rail in landscape. Either way you get Scope Level: a free anti-cant level, zeroed to your rifle, with visual and audible cues so you stay in the scope. Three degrees of cant — too small to feel — throws the bullet four inches at 500 yards and two feet at 1,000.
- Screen rotation: mount the watch at any angle and set the screen to match — target bearings and level sensors adjust accordingly (Pro)
- Free anti-cant level on Apple Watch and iPhone — zero it to your rifle once
- Audible and haptic cues plus a visual bubble — eyes stay on the target
- iPhone landscape support with the control rail on your chosen side
- The display stays awake in Live Fire — no idle dimming between shots
- Pro puts the level beside your live holds and takes shot angle straight from it
Works with your own mount — a rail phone mount, dope-card holder, or watch band around the stock. Wrist Dope does not include mounting hardware.

Speed, backed by real math
Fast does not mean simplified.
Wrist Dope uses an independent point-mass ballistic solver with fourth-order Runge-Kutta integration. It accounts for the variables that materially change a firing solution, then presents the result without burying it.
- G1 and G7 drag models
- Atmospheric and density-altitude effects
- Coriolis and spin drift
- Incline and decline compensation
- MIL and MOA
- Velocity, energy, and time of flight
- Validated against published reference trajectories
Know more before you commit.
Configure target size, rifle precision, velocity spread, and wind confidence to estimate first-round hit probability. For hunting profiles, compare retained energy and impact velocity with your configured terminal thresholds.
These are decision-support estimates, not guarantees. Confirm your data, conditions, target, and safe backstop before every shot.

Why I built it
The calculators worked. The workflow did not.

I have spent years using ballistic apps, rangefinders, weather meters, and watches. They can produce excellent data, but too many of them demand attention at exactly the wrong moment.
I built Wrist Dope to remove that friction: scan the ammunition instead of researching it, use the screen already on your wrist, and get the answer without digging through another menu.
Wrist Dope is the ballistic tool I wanted to carry.

Frequently asked questions
What does the ammo scanner create?
Scan the UPC on a box of factory ammunition and Wrist Dope uses its onboard catalog to identify the cartridge, bullet, ballistic coefficient, and published factory velocity. It creates the gun and load profile and opens Live Fire. Factory values are a starting point; verify and true them for your rifle.
Does ammo scanning need an internet connection?
No. The factory-load and bullet catalogs are stored on the iPhone. Barcode lookup, profile creation, saved data, and ballistic calculations work offline.
Does Wrist Dope work without an iPhone?
Yes. The Apple Watch app can calculate holds, use saved profiles, accept manual conditions, and display range cards on its own. The iPhone makes setup and scanning faster but is not required in the field.
Does Wrist Dope work without an Apple Watch?
Yes. The included iPhone app is a complete standalone ballistic calculator.
Does Wrist Dope measure wind?
Wrist Dope calculates the effect of the wind you set. You can enter wind speed and direction, set direction with the compass, or use weather information as a reference. Local and downrange wind still require a responsible field call.
What does Siri support?
Ask for dope at a distance and Wrist Dope speaks the elevation and wind hold. You can also set wind and target by voice on Apple Watch or iPhone.
Is the ballistic solver simplified for the Watch?
No. Wrist Dope uses the same independent point-mass solver on Apple Watch and iPhone, with G1/G7 drag, atmosphere, incline, Coriolis, and spin drift.
How accurate is Wrist Dope?
The solver is a full point-mass model validated against published reference trajectories, so the math is sound. Real-world accuracy comes down to your inputs — muzzle velocity, BC, zero, and current conditions. Factory velocity is a starting value; chronograph your load and true the profile against known-distance impacts for the most reliable holds. Wrist Dope gives you the solution, and field validation makes it yours.
Will it drain my Apple Watch battery?
By default Wrist Dope only runs the live sensors while a calculation screen is open, and watch-face complications read a saved snapshot instead of computing continuously — so day-to-day impact is minimal. When you want the opposite — a display that stays awake on the rifle — Live Fire's keep-awake keeps the solution readable between shots (always-on rendering on the watch), trading some battery for zero interruptions. As with any field electronics, start the day charged.
What if my cartridge or handload isn't in the scan catalog?
You're not limited to scanned factory ammo. Enter a UPC manually, pick a component bullet and set your own muzzle velocity, or build a load by hand. Handloaders can define velocity, BC, and bullet details directly, then true the profile like any other.
Where does the ballistic data come from?
The onboard catalog uses published manufacturer specifications — cartridge, bullet, ballistic coefficient (G1 and G7 where published), and factory muzzle velocity. Because published BCs and factory velocities are nominal, treat them as a starting profile and true against your own rifle and chronograph data.
Is there a subscription or account?
No. Wrist Dope is free to download on iPhone and Apple Watch, with no account. Wrist Dope Pro is a one-time $39.99 — no subscription, ever — and you can try Pro free for 7 days. The App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.
What happens after the 7-day Pro trial?
Nothing is deleted — your guns, loads, and profiles stay on your device. The full ballistic solver, manual load building, range card tables, watch-and-iPhone sync, and the standalone Apple Watch app stay free, with room for three rifle-and-load combinations. Scanning, Siri, automatic conditions, live complications, printable range cards, and unlimited profiles unlock with a one-time $39.99 purchase whenever you're ready. Any extra combinations you built during the trial are kept and simply locked until you upgrade, never erased.
Does Wrist Dope have an anti-cant level?
Yes — Scope Level is a free anti-cant rifle level on both Apple Watch and iPhone. Zero it to your rifle once, then level up with a visual bubble plus audible and haptic cues so your eyes stay in the scope. Mount the iPhone on the rail (landscape or portrait) or strap the watch to a dope-card holder. Pro can show the level beside your Live Fire holds and take the shot angle from it automatically.
Which devices are supported?
Wrist Dope runs on every current-generation Apple Watch and iPhone. We test the layout on physical hardware at both ends of the lineup — the flagship Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the compact Apple Watch SE (40mm), iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17e — so holds, wind arrows, and range-card rows fit edge to edge on the smallest screens, not just the largest. Requires watchOS 11 or later and iOS 18 or later.
Spend less time building profiles. Spend less time hunting through menus.
